Title: Homemade Creme De Menthe
Yield: 1 Serving

Ingredients

      2 oz fresh mint leaves
      1    fifth vodka
      4 c  sugar
      2 c  water
     10 dr peppermint oil
2 dr green food coloring; (2 to
           -3)

Instructions

1. Crush mint leaves in a mortar and pestle or place them between a
tablespoon and a teaspoon and macerate. Place crushed leaves in a
sterilized glass jar and pour vodka over them. Cover and let sit for 10
days. 2. Stain vodka through cheesecloth or a coffee filter and discard
mint. 3. Make a syrup of the sugar and water by bringing the mixture to a
boil, boiling for 30 minutes, and then letting it cool. Add syrup to the
mint-flavored vodka, add peppermint and coloring and stir. 4. If liqueur
is not clear, you may want to filter it a second time. You may also want
to omit the green food coloring. Liqueur will keep for a year on the
pantry shelf.
