Cook hominy grits until tender. Beat hickory nuts to a fine pulp
(hulls and all) until the mass can be pressed together to form a
ball. When hominy grits are done, put the nuts in a pan and cover
with boiling water. Use enough water to stir nuts well to remove
hulls, then strain through a fine sieve to catch any remaining. Add
to hominy grits and serve with sugar or salt.
